Can I use your photographs?
Most of them, yes. Over 34,000 of my photos and videos are on Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences, usually CC BY-SA 4.0. You can use them for free, even commercially, as long as you credit me and keep the licence. Each file’s page says which licence it has.
How should I credit you?
“Wasiul Bahar / Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0”, with a link to the file page where you can. For a photo that isn’t on Commons, email me first.
Do you take assignments?
Yes: field reporting, features, event photography, organising, open knowledge training and cinematography anywhere in Bangladesh. Email me the date, the place and what you need, and I’ll reply with what I can do.
What do you write about?
Memory and the 2024 uprising, disability and access, work and livelihoods, endangered languages, and who holds power over technology. I write features and reports for Nutshell Today.
Can you help with a Wikimedia campaign?
Yes. I’ve run Wiki Loves Folklore in Bangladesh, I lead Project Korikath, and I’m a certified Organizer Lab trainer. I can help plan a campaign, train organisers or lead a photowalk.
What is Project Korikath?
A volunteer photography project I started in 2021. We photograph the people, places and things Wikipedia has no pictures of, and upload them openly. It now has more than 100 volunteers in seven countries.
Where are you based?
Dhaka, Bangladesh. I travel for work across Bangladesh, from Narayanganj to the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Are you still studying?
Yes. I’m doing a BBA in Finance and Banking at Bangladesh University of Professionals, expected in 2028. Before that, I studied at Dhaka College and Ideal School and College.
